Hi Families,

REMINDER: Our field trip is this coming Thursday. Thank you to all of you who got your paper work in on time. We are all set to go so if you are coming with us, be here in Room 4 Thursday morning at 8:10. It is going to be such a great time!

Language Arts: We will enjoy 3 great stories from our Houghton Mifflin Reading Series. The strategy focus will be working on are summarizing and story structure. Working on these skills at home is a great idea!

Writing: We have started our new school wide writing program, Writing Workshop,  and will continue for the next few weeks working on our narrative pieces. We will continue to be in the "gathering" phase of the writing process next week thinking about small moments in our lives.

Grammar: We will look for action words and work with words with the short u sound.

Social Studies: We will use our Studies Weekly periodical to learn about the American and California flags, the Pledge of Allegiance and the history of Labor Day. Being kind to others will be weaved into all the daily lessons.

Math: We will continue in Module 4 unit in our Bridges Math Program where students will work to find the missing addend and work with subtraction. We will continue working to subitize using our ten frames and work with non standard units of measure (unifix cubes and popsicle sticks)
