Hi Families,

A big thank you for reminding your child to work in his/her Lexia Core 5 and Moby Max programs at home each day! I am seeing a HUGE improvement in their skills!

Lexia Reading Core 5 Program:
It is very helpful for you child to work in this program each day at home. This is a self directed program that helps your child with reading and spelling skills. Your child will need a head set to listen to the directions and complete it without any help as they do here at school. I receive a report as to the progress the children are making at with the program at home. I highly recommend it! To access it follow these 4 steps..
1. google lexia core 5

2 go to...
www.lexialearning.com/products/core5
3. go to "sign in" at the top right
4  scroll down to Core5
5 put in my email lea_robinson@pvusd.net (if needed)
4. your child will type in his/her username and password from the card provided

Moby Max is HERE!
MobyMax is a computer based program and just like the Lexia Reading Core 5 Program, this is a self directed program that helps your child with academic skills at home. Your child will need a head set and then will be able to work in the program without any help.  I receive a progress report just like the Core 5 Program.  Your child will be working in the "math and fact fluency" section. Each student has a unique login. Follow these steps:

1. go to www.mobymax.com
2. fill in school name... rio del mar
3. click "sign in"
4. click "as a student"
5. user name is your child's first name all lower case letters

Language Arts: Our story this week in our Houghton Mifflin Reading Series is Eek, There's a Mouse in the House. The strategy focus is questioning using many long /e/ words.

Phonics: Your child will learn new phonograms each week as we go through our Total Reading Program. Have fun going on phonogram hunts as you read your books together each night. So far we have learned: sh, th, ee, er, ch, ck, wh, ea, ai, ay, ed, ou, ow,oo

Word Wall Words: Here is the list of the current words on our word wall. It is a great idea to make a word wall at home or flashcards to help your child master the reading/spelling of these words. We will add 5 more word each week so knowing these is very important.

Writing: We will write our Writing Workshop stories, write in journals, writing new endings to stories, writing summaries, write to given prompts and write in our Daily Oral Language Program.

Grammar: Naming words for things and places. We will also learn how to put words into ABC order.

Math: We will work in Unit 4 Module 2 in our Bridges Math Program. Students will work on the number line as they continue to develop a sense of number and number relationships. This module challenges students' reasoning abilities as they work to determine the value of empty number boxes placed strategically on a number line. Students will record equations to match a given number line too.
