Dear Families,

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night! Please remember that this evening is for adults only.

Language Arts: Our Houghton Mifflin stories will continue to be fiction stories about animals.  They will give us an opportunity to practice comparing and contrasting events.

Grammar: Capitalizing names

Writing: We will write each day to our Mystery Person paying attention to spell all of our word wall words correctly, begin each sentence with a capital and end with the correct punctuation.

Word Wall Words: Your children will learn new word wall words each week and together we will put them on our Word Wall. Listed below are the word wall words from Kindergarten. It is my hope that you will make a word wall at home or make flashcards to practice daily with your child. This will help your child with reading, writing, and spelling.

as a are and at about  be because can do day first from friend for good go her his house he have here is I know like me my make many of one once of play she saw see there they that this the to the this to very what where went will we with was want your you

Mystery Person: Each day we will have fun discovering who is going to be the Mystery Person. This engaging activity helps students learn about their new classmates as well as practice reading, writing and spelling. Look for your child's Mystery Person book to come home soon!

Math: Our focus this week will continue to be using our math strategies with addition, finding missing addends, and work with number bonds up ro 10.

Lexia Reading Core 5 Program: It is very helpful for you child to work in this program each day at home. This is a self directed program that helps your child with reading and spelling skills. Your child will need a head set to listen to the directions and should work to complete each skill section without any help as they do here at school. I receive a report daily as to the progress the children are making at home. I highly recommend it! Your child's log in cards are stapled to the homework folder. Here are the steps to log in.

1. google lexia core 5
2 go to...
www.lexialearning.com/products/core5
3. go to "sign in" at the top right
4  scroll down to Core5
5 put in my email lea_robinson@pvusd.net (if needed)
4. your child will type in his/her username and password from the card provided

Moby Max is HERE!

MobyMax is a computer based program and just like the Lexia Reading Core 5 Program, this is a self directed program that helps your child with academic skills at home. Using a headset, your child will be able to work in the program without any help.  I receive a weekly progress report just like the Core 5 Program and hope to see your child progressing in a consistent manner through the program.  Your child will be working in the "math and fact fluency" sections. Each student has a unique login. Follow the steps written on your child's log in card. I stapled it to your child's class folder.
