Dear Families,

Here is a peek at next week.

Halloween Parade/Party- The parade will take place at 8:30 on the lower playground and our class party will begin after our lunch around 11:00.

Field Trip:  Our first field trip will be on Friday, November 16 to Jacob's Heart.  Please be sure to turn in the permission slips as soon as possible.  Also, please let me know if you are able to drive and have all of your paperwork updated in the office.

Star of the Week:  Please look at the schedule, right hand side of this post, to see when it is your child's turn to be Star. If the week I have chosen doesn't work for you, please let me know and we can change it. There is a lot of flexibility with this program so feel free to change the activities to best suit your family. Have fun and we can't wait to learn more about all our Stars!

Language Arts: Our Houghton Mifflin stories this week will be fiction that will help us compare/contrast and retell a story.

Grammar:  We will focus on words with short vowels sounds as well as finding complete sentences.

Writer's Workshop: We have started our Opinion Writing Unit. We started by talking about the difference between a fact, something that is true and can be proven, and an opinion, something you feel strongly about and can support with reasons.

Word Wall Words: Your children will learn new word wall words each week and together we will put them on our Word Wall. Listed below are the word wall words from Kindergarten. It is my hope that you will make a word wall at home or make flashcards to practice daily with your child. This will help your child with reading, writing, and spelling.
