Dear Families,

Happy December. We are working hard during this short month and getting ready to be on our nice long vacation!

Star of the Week:  Please look at the schedule, right hand side of this post, to see when it is your child's turn to be Star. If the week I have chosen doesn't work for you, please let me know and we can change it. There is a lot of flexibility with this program so feel free to change the activities to best suit your family. Have fun and we can't wait to learn more about all our Stars!

Language Arts: Our stories continue to be fiction stories that help us work with cause and effect.

Grammar:  We will start to learn about contractions and continue to find words with long vowel sounds.

Writer's Workshop: We will celebrate with our friends now that we completed our opinion writing. Enjoy reading it with your child when it comes home.

Word Wall Words: Your children will learn new word wall words each week and together we will put them on our Word Wall. Listed below are the word wall words from Kindergarten. It is my hope that you will make a word wall at home or make flashcards to practice daily with your child. This will help your child with reading, writing, and spelling.

Your child will need a head set to listen to the directions and should work to complete each skill section without any help as they do here at school. I receive a report daily as to the progress the children are making at home. I highly recommend it! Your child's log in cards are stapled to the homework folder. Here are the steps to log in.

1. google lexia core 5
2 go to...
www.lexialearning.com/products/core5
3. go to "sign in" at the top right
4  scroll down to Core5
5 put in my email lea_robinson@pvusd.net (if needed)
4. your child will type in his/her username and password from the card provided

Moby Max is HERE!

MobyMax is a computer based program and just like the Lexia Reading Core 5 Program, this is a self directed program that helps your child with academic skills at home. Using a headset, your child will be able to work in the program without any help.  I receive a weekly progress report just like the Core 5 Program and hope to see your child progressing in a consistent manner through the program.  Your child will be working in the "math and fact fluency" sections. Each student has a unique login. Follow the steps written on your child's log in card. I stapled it to your child's class folder.
