Hi Families,

What a great week! Your children are coming to school each day with a smile, ready to learn and loving the challenges a new class and first grade presents! They love to challenge themselves and feel their brains with grow!
Thank you for all the class donations. It really helps to have all the supplies we need. We would still love to have prizes for our prize box, jump ropes for recess and black thin tipped felt markers for Writer's Workshop.

Here is a peek at our upcoming week.

Language Arts: Our Houghton Mifflin story is Charles Tiger. This is an entertaining story that will help your children learn how to evaluate and understand about cause and effect.

Word Wall Words: Your children will learn 5 new word wall words each week and together we will put them on our Word Wall. Listed below are the word wall words from Kindergarten and the 5 new ones. It is my hope that you will make a word wall at home or make flashcards to practice daily with your child. This will help your child with reading, writing, and spelling.

Grammar: We will continue our focus on starting each sentence with a capital letter and using the correct punctuation.

Mystery Person: Each day we will have fun discovering who is going to be the Mystery Person. This engaging activity helps students learn about their new classmates as well as practice reading, writing and spelling. Look for your child's Mystery Person book to come home!

Math: Our focus this week is extending patterns, number bonds and counting on.

Reminders:
*If you plan on driving on a field trip this year, please update your paper work in the school office ASAP.
*Your children work hard in class so please take a moment each day to review your children's work that they bring home in their folder and help them remember to bring an empty folder back to school the next day.
*Help your child remember to bring a small snack each day to be eaten during the first recess.
*Please label all clothing.
